The slain businessman’s family is keeping their dream alive by expanding their business, Element Beverage Co.

Keishia Deverney and David Espadron are proud of what their son, Devin, has accomplished. His Element fruit drink started as a senior class project at St. Augustine High School in 2016. Devin has grown the product into a well-respected company. After his tragic gunshot death in 2019, his family decided to keep the dream alive. Three years later, Element Beverage Co. is now in partnership with Southern Eagle, a major beverage distributor in the region. Devin’s patented pineapple lemonade drinks will soon be available in six parishes. “He would be so excited for something he started in his home kitchen, just selling juice out of the back of his Jeep,” Deverney said of his son’s ambition. “The element is something that Devin put his heart into,” said Devin’s father, David Espadron. In early 2019, he had a meeting in New York with industry leaders, learning about profit margins and how to scale his business. “Devin left a great plan because the relationships he made before his untimely death were really good relationships. Great networking. They helped us along the way,” says Keishia. As her family continues to put bottled up his dreams, it’s also bittersweet that Devin couldn’t be there to enjoy them. However, they believe they are divinely guided by him every day. “You have to thank God for giving us the strength to do run the business for our son.
