River Island has launched a dog collection – but is it good?

River Island has launched a line of matching pet and parenting accessories that turn the dog walk into a catwalk.

And honestly? I’m a little obsessed with this.

There are 17 products in the canine collection – named RI Dog – with matching human coats to pair with your four-legged bestie.

My Staffordshire bull terrier cross, Phoebe, and I tried out one of the coordinating sets from the Stylish Fall / Winter range, styling the women’s brown puffer jacket with RI monogram, and the complementing the canine coat.

The human puffer is available in sizes 6-18, which could be more inclusive to meet the needs of parents of large animals.

The jacket is fully printed with the famous RI monogram, with a hood lined with faux fur in case of fall showers or for protection from the wind.

Pulling on the coat he was immediately noticeable how hot it was, being quilted and padded, zipped up to the neck to feel even more comfortable. It features long, cuffed sleeves for added comfort and two pockets deep enough to store phones, keys, and of course, poo bags.

One of my favorite features was the belt which snaps a bit like a dog collar down the middle – I just think it enhances the look and makes you stand a little taller which makes the jacket look a bit taller. more luxurious.

The human coat is priced at £ 75, while the matching pet jacket will set you back £ 28.

The dog jacket is available in sizes Small, Medium, and Large, and while River Island claims their RI Dog collection caters to all sizes, the large was rather fitted on Phoebe and certainly wouldn’t have suited my plus. great American Bulldog, Frank.

The length is perfect – but the Velcro strap had to be a few inches longer to accommodate dogs with deep breasts.

With that said, we’ve adjusted the jacket and I’m going to use my sewing machine to make some adjustments so that Phoebe is a bit more comfortable to wear on long walks. It would be great to see River Island release an extra large for the larger breeds as well.

That said, the coat is gorgeous. It’s quilted and padded much like the human coat, and features the matching RI monogram print, with the RI branding embroidered.

Inside, there’s a borg lining for extra warmth, and the faux fur-lined hood is removable for styling it in different ways.

One of the features we really liked was the inconspicuous lead hole which is great for attaching leashes to collars or harnesses when out on their ride.

On the walk my coat was really warm and really kept me cool, the pockets are comfy and the belt is a super cute extra. Despite Phoebe’s tighter fit, the coat stayed in place the entire walk in the woods, and she walked better in it than when she wasn’t wearing a jacket, suggesting she felt just as good in it and safe !

The collection is River Island’s dog fashion collection five years from now, with prices starting at £ 10.

The brand is just the latest fashion retailer to offer new dog outfits, with Zara and Boohoo has also launched ranges in recent weeks to make sure pets are comfortable and stylish despite the change to the cold.

The range also includes stylish raincoats, quilted jackets and adorable monogrammed sweaters, as well as a series of more traditional accessories like dog leashes and harnesses.
