PITTSBURGH, February 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — partners with the Richard King Mellon Foundation (RKMF) to develop the next generation of business leaders and changemakers. Spanning four years, RKMF $1.2 million the investment will be allocated to Allegheny and Westmoreland counties and will help equip young people with an entrepreneurial spirit, develop their 21st century skills and strengthen their social capital.

“This is why the Foundation recently organized a pitch contest for today’s social impact entrepreneurs. And we support the important work of, to help foster the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. The skills taught by the program will better prepare young people to become entrepreneurs themselves or to work for startups. And all students will benefit, because every job in this fast-paced economy requires entrepreneurial skills and competencies. »

The project starts with the 2022 Southwest PA Youth Pitch Competition which was launched today! With this free digital program, Allegheny and Westmoreland County students and educators will flex their muscles and their entrepreneurial spirit to compete for cash prizes and bragging rights for their school and community. Students will embark on a journey of empathy, innovation and collaboration to design campaigns, solutions and products on how to create a Greater Pittsburgh community. All educators receive training on implementing the challenge using human-centered design thinking. The finalist students will compete in a celebratory event at May 2022.
